Butte Splits with Feather River, Shows Resilience in GVC Series

The Butte College women’s softball team battled through a split against Feather River College on Friday, demonstrating grit and timely hitting in a pair of Golden Valley Conference matchups.
In the opener, Butte fell 2-1 in a pitchers’ duel. Feather River struck first with a run in the top of the first, and Lily Lee added a solo homer in the third. Butte responded in the bottom of the third when Taryn Cleek singled to drive in Taryn Walsh, narrowing the gap. Kodi Aisthorpe pitched a complete game, allowing only two runs on eight hits with three strikeouts, keeping Butte competitive until the final out. Cleek also swiped three bases in the contest, highlighting Butte’s speed on the basepaths.
The second game showcased Butte’s offensive firepower, as the Roadrunners exploded for 10 runs to take an 10-8 victory, evening the series. Butte scored six runs in the first inning alone, sparked by a three-run homer from Alyssa Thompson and a clutch two-RBI double by Lali Gonzalez. Kodi Aisthorpe and Nyah Gee-Baker also contributed key RBIs in the early surge. Butte extended the lead in the second inning with smart baserunning and capitalized on defensive miscues by Feather River.
Feather River mounted a late rally, scoring five runs in the third and seventh innings, but Butte’s early offensive explosion held up. Ava Garcia earned the win in relief, going 6.2 innings and allowing seven runs (five earned) while striking out none and walking five. Kodi Aisthorpe closed the game for a save, striking out none over a scoreless 0.1 inning.
